Running through the town of Stotfold is the Rivel Ivel. In the 19th Century the town was classed as a wealthy place to live.
In this ancient town you have a football pitch, a multi use games area, recreational ground and two parks. Standing on the Rivel Ivel is the water mill. Its a grade II listed mill and the only working mill left standing, there were once four of them.
Stotfold also hosts the Mill Steam and Country Fair.
Half a mile up the road, is Arlesey. Arlesey was home to Fairfield psychiatric hospital. It was originally known as the Stotfold Three Counties Asylum. The main building of the former hospital was its water towers, which are also grade II listed. These have been restored and being converted into luxury flats. This has been renamed to Fairfield Hall. Within this is Bannatyne's Health Club, where a new development has been built called Fairfield Park.
Victoria Pendleton, the olympic and World champion track cyclist lived in this pretty little town.
